Word of Grace Responds to the Conflict in Israel and Lebanon

We are all aware of the conflict currently happening in Israel and Lebanon. Over the past few weeks more than 1,100 Israelis and Lebanese have been killed, another 4,000+ people have been injured and 1,500,000 people have been displaced. The amount of suffering as result of this “war” is hard to imagine.

In the middle of the war and suffering, God has enabled His people to share His love with those who need aid. Local churches and Christian ministries – even at the risk of being killed themselves, have been helping as many people as they can – whether they be Israeli, Palestinian, or Arab – and whether they are Muslim, Christian, or Jewish.

Word of Grace is standing with our brothers and sisters in Christ during this crises. Because of your gifts to our Global Opportunities Fund (GO Fund) this week we are sending $14,500 to help in the relief effort in Israel and Lebanon. We are distributing these funds through our ministry partners – people we can trust and who are actively helping those in need – often at great personal risk. We are sending:
These gifts – given in the name of Jesus -- will provide food, clothing, mattresses, medical supplies, blankets, Bibles and other emergency supplies. We are already hearing stories of Muslims and Jews coming to know Jesus as a result of the work of our ministry partners.

This morning, I emailed Pastor Joy Mollauh of the Church of God in Beirut with the news that we would be sending $5,000 towards their relief effort. This was his reply:

PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE THE LORD!

I was just praying this afternoon how our aid program might continue with the scarce funds we have received since the need is too great for words. I got your email when I was feeling things were developing negatively. We have just sent 100 food parcels and 100 bedcovers to a southern village this afternoon, and we had run out of money. The parcels contain an evangelistic booklet and it is blessing families from all religious backgrounds. Thank you brother! Many thanks to the whole church who is behind your generous giving. Tomorrow morning we will visit more families to whom we will take mattresses to sleep on and more food parcels.

Please pray for a cease fire. The situation is deteriorating and many children are threatened with diseases as a result of the conditions they are living in.

Please pray for the people of Israel and Lebanon and for peace to reign.
